About New Jersey Teacher Leader Certification

FEA’s NJTLC Program Provides The Opportunity For Certified Teachers To

  1. Earn a State-approved teacher leader certification endorsement with eligibility to assume various Teacher Leader roles in their schools, districts and communities
  2. Obtain exceptional training in the knowledge and skills required for effective teacher and school leadership
  3. Explore and develop their abilities, potential and desire to assume teacher leader roles, as well as possible supervisory and school/district administrative roles
  4. Build upon their NJTLC preparation and certification and earn advanced standing in the FEA-NJEXCEL Program leading to State certifications for Supervisor, Principal, School Administrator, and Director of School Counseling Services
  5. Earn graduate credit for district reimbursement of NJTLC Program fees, and for advancement on district salary guides

FEA’s NJ Teacher Leader Certification (NJTLC) Program

The Mission of the FEA “NJ Teacher Leader Certification (NJTLC) Program” is to further develop an educational leadership pipeline that prepares educators as teacher leaders within their profession, districts and schools by providing highly qualified teachers with the leadership knowledge, skills, competencies and opportunities to:

  1. Significantly impact the continuous improvement of schools, teaching, and student learning
  2. Advance their roles, status and professional and educational influence in their school communities
  3. Collaboratively support, coach and enhance the skills and practices of their colleagues resulting in increased teacher job satisfaction and retention, and the continuous improvement of teacher performance, instructional practices and student achievement
  4. Tap unrealized potential and spark an interest in school leadership positions that did not previously exist leading to educational leadership certifications and roles based on personal and professional goals of the NJTLC candidates
